Teaching Experience
In this section, you want to highlight your teaching experience by listing all
current and previous teaching roles and responsibilities. Typically, you would list courses you've taught with a brief description of each (e.g., description, type of student, place in the program) and your role in teaching the course (e.g., full instructor, discussion/lab leader, grader). Here is an example:
Intro to Your Field – Your Field (4 credits), Your University
Since fall 2012, I have taught Intro to Your Field 4 times. On average, class sizes range between 25 and 30 students. IYF 101 is a major course and introduces the application of all the important elements of my field. The course critically examines the components of my field. For this particular course, I was a full instructor and responsible for all aspects of the course, including the design and delivery of course content and assessment of student learning. Given the course description and placement in the curriculum, my course learning goal is as follows: (List them here).
You might also list any experience you have mentoring students, particularly if this will be expected in academic positions you plan to apply for.
What if I'm new to teaching and have never formally taught?
If you have not taught a course before, express your desire to do so and provide relevant other teaching experience such as guest lecturing, mentoring of undergraduates, or corporate/outside training experiences. Additionally, include a description of the types of courses you are qualified to teach or would like to teach.

Teaching Philosophy
Once you've attended the TLC Developing a Teaching Philosophy workshop, you should post your philosophy to this page (don't upload a document, just copy and paste it directly into the page so your reader doesn't have to open or download anything to read it).
Be sure to revise your philosophy based on feedback you received from your peers. You might even consider asking your teaching mentor to review what you've written and provide more detailed feedback. You can also send your philosophy to Kristi before publishing it here.
